Michelle Pickles

Portfolio Bio Voice

Michelle Pickle’s soothing, even-toned voice will ring bells with most Kiwis - she spent 20 years in broadcasting, working for both TVNZ and TV3, but she is best-known for her work at TV3/Newshub, where she was an award-winning sports journalist.

During that time Michelle led the coverage at three Olympic Games, three Commonwealth Games, and two Rugby World Cups.  She also covered the 2013 America’s Cup, the 2014 Winter Olympics and multiple World Rowing Championships.

Michelle is also happy behind the radio mic - where she filled in as a newsreader and sports show co-host on Radio Live.

Her love of sport comes from her own previous experience as a roller figure skater where she was a six time New Zealand champion and represented New Zealand at six world championships.

Michelle’s current role is at Trackside TV where she manages the on-air talent.  She is also a trustee for the Halberg Disability Sports Foundation, and can sometimes be found contributing to The AM Show’s morning panel.

Fun Fact:  Michelle owns a 1959 El Camino, and along with her husband has four other American muscle cars in the garage.  Accordingly, Michelle can usually be found at the Annual Beach Hop in Whangamata.
