An award-winning broadcaster with 25 years' experience, Nathan has worked in all aspects of the radio, TV and advertising worlds as a writer, voice-over artist, presenter, MC and producer.
As 2021 dawned on us, Nathan took up his newest role, as host of Radio New Zealand's early morning show, First Up, where he is first on the scene of the day, dissecting news, current affairs and sports events before most of us have opened our eyes!
It's a fortuitous full circle for Nathan, who began his broadcasting career as a school boy in Hawkes Bay, doing the mid-dawn radio shift at 93FM. Since then, he has logged over 10,000 hours of live and pre-recorded on-air experience, acquiring skills across the board including copy writing and voice-overs.
Nate has voiced countless advertising campaigns using his huge array of accents, but is capable of delivering both brand and retail scripts as well. One of his most memorable voice jobs was delivering 12 different unique character voices in the hit comedy animation series BroTown.
He is also very comfortable in front of the camera and over the years Nate has logged 1000s of hours of on camera experience, becoming one of NZ's most popular presenters, having co-hosted Box Dog, ICE TV, Sportzah, and many TV3 sports shows. Whether it's working scripted or ad-libbed; in studio or on location; live or pre-recorded, Nate is skilled in the role of anchor or as a panelist. Due to his large bank of experience, he is a highly adaptable presenter - able to cope with last minute changes.
This adaptability and professionalism has carried over to his corporate work as an MC, where Nate has built a reputation of being easy to work with, possessing the ability to quickly 'read a room' and present at the appropriate mood and pace required.
He is skilled in reading and writing scripts, using an auto-cue, working with a roaming microphone, on stage interviews and putting guests at ease on stage. MCing is an activity that Nathan thoroughly enjoys and excels at - always getting rave reviews from clients!
