An accomplished storyteller, content creator, and entertainer, Wilhelmina Shrimpton is a dynamic award-winning multimedia journalist with over 16 years of experience spanning radio, television, online platforms, and podcasts.

Wilhelmina’s journey began at TVNZ before honing her journalistic instincts in the fast-paced RadioLIVE newsroom. Her passion for television saw her join Three’s acclaimed morning show with Paul Henry in 2015, quickly transitioning to a reporting role on Newshub Live at 6pm and later hosting Newshub Late. During her time at Newshub, she was on the frontlines of major breaking news stories, including the Lindt Cafe Siege, the Kaipara Harbour tragedy, the Kawerau siege, and the Christchurch mosque attacks.

In addition to her broadcast work, Wilhelmina developed her first successful podcast series, The Pivot, while at Newshub. The podcast which was finalist at the 2022 Voyager Media Awards highlighted Kiwis whose livelihoods were upended during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing her ability to connect with audiences through authentic and impactful storytelling.

Beyond hard news, Wilhelmina also has an innate flair for creative, lighthearted storytelling, which she showcased while covering the NZ Music Awards, NZ Fashion Week, and several Royal Tours. Her deep interest in crime, justice, and social issues further solidified her reputation as a journalist with both substance and versatility.

This versatility continued as she co-hosted the drive show at Today FM, and also served as Investigations Editor. Her impactful documentaries, HIGH & DIE: The Fentanyl Problem and UNSOCIAL MEDIA: Following the Trolls, earned her back-to-back accolades at the NZ Radio Awards in 2023 and 2024 for Best Long Form Video as well as Best News Journalist in 2023.

Following the closure of Today FM, Wilhelmina founded Wils & Co Media, leveraging her expertise to offer hosting, MC services, PR, media training, writing, and content creation. Alongside these ventures she's freelanced in multiple newsrooms, even travelling as far as New Delhi to work a month-long stint as a journalism consultant for India's state broadcaster. More recently she's completed short-term contracts presenting NZ Herald Focus, joined Newstalk ZB as a freelance host, and presents a weekly podcast focused on delivering the latest business news for SMEs - underscoring her commitment to connecting with diverse audiences and delivering value-driven content.

Currently, Wilhelmina balances her media company, podcasting, and broadcasting work with her innate ability to entertain and inform. Whether delivering hard-hitting news, emceeing events, or creating relatable and engaging content, Wilhelmina’s approachable personality and quick wit make her a trusted voice and vibrant presence in New Zealand media.
