Gabe Ross is the co-founder of Weekend Mish, a multimedia media brand redefining how young people engage with the outdoors. Through high-energy adventure storytelling, conservation-driven hunting, fishing and spearfishing. Gabe and his co-founder have built a fast growing, high energy outdoor brand with a fresh take on outdoor culture, Gabe has a mission to demonstrate that the wild is empowering for everyone—whether you’re deep in the backcountry or just starting out.
Gabe holds a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from Otago University, played cricket for Otago U19s, and is a published writer for multiple outdoor publications. He’s a PADI certified diver and competitive free diver, just as comfortable underwater as he is in the mountains. Outside of adventure, he’s got a creative streak—certified to Grade 8 in Speech and Drama through the Trinity School of London, he plays guitar, piano and writes songs for fun.
In 2023, Gabe’s skills were put to the test on TRACKED, Discovery Warner Brothers' Great Southern survival show, where he and Riley Meason won the show. At the core of it all, Gabe’s ultimate goal is to create positive change in the outdoor space, using Weekend Mish to influence conservation, sustainability, and promoting people to connect with the wild. Whether it’s through storytelling, hands-on initiatives, impact products or pushing the limits in the backcountry, he’s out to make an impact that lasts. A born explorer, Gabe calls Lake Hawea in Central Otago home and it’s this extraordinary landscape which is the launchpad for the missions which fuel Weekend Mish.
