Sin Howard

Sin Howard’s rapid trajectory of hosting live radio and performing at gigs has delivered her right into the helm of George FM Drive, where she provides Kiwi’s the soundtrack for their evening commute alongside her real-life bestie Brook Gibson. Passionate about her connection with her listeners, she loves that she “gets to geek out” over all genres of music with like-minded people every day.

Free-spirited Sin grew up with her tight-knit, supportive family on the Hibiscus Coast. She started dance classes at three, training in hip-hop, commercial jazz, contemporary, lyrical, ballet and musical theatre throughout her teens. At 18, she decided to move to Sydney to dance full-time, training five days a week. It was during this period Sin realised that what she loved most was the music she was dancing to.

Returning to New Zealand in 2016, she was accepted into AUT to study communications, majoring in radio, with her favourite station George FM providing the background music to her studies. She continued to teach dance while performing and choreographing for the Vodafone Warriors and the New Zealand Breakers dance squads. Sin approached George FM for an internship, and her talent for hosting shone through instantly. She was quickly moved through the show roster, fronting Saturday mornings; then nights; then days.

Inspired by her mother’s DJ best friend and Irish DJ Annie Mac, host of famed BBC Radio 1 shows, she learned the skill, practising every night after her show finished at 11pm. Her self-taught technique has evolved into a career playing everywhere, from city nightclubs to festivals up and down the country, including opening for Fatboy Slim.

Sin lives in central Auckland with her partner, fellow muso Graham, with whom she spends time talking about music, listening to music and DJing around the country. In her spare time, you can find Sin indulging in her love of fashion and makeup, reading, learning about interior design and styling, or on Aunty Duties with her beloved nephew Van.

Sin loves pushing boundaries, is not afraid to speak out for anyone marginalised, and is a strong advocate for women’s rights and sex positivity. A natural extrovert and “big muso,” Sin feels most at home when performing, sharing her passion with others and being heard, seen and felt. She is excited to collaborate with forward-thinking businesses and brands whose progressive values she can align with.
