Host of Discovery’s breakfast offering, AM, seasoned journalist Ryan Bridge will charm or disarm you – often both simultaneously! Kiwi news personality Ryan uses his satirical style to keep his audience informed and entertained, bringing a depth of news knowledge and warmth to weekday mornings, along with the full force of the Newshub newsroom.

In his 10+ years in the media, Ryan has worked for Radio New Zealand as a political reporter in the press gallery at Parliament, TV3’s Beijing correspondent and business newsreader on Morning Report. He reported and presented for TV3’s 7pm current affairs show, Story, Newshub Live at 6pm and was the host of RadioLIVE’s political and lifestyle show, Your Sunday.

He has covered major news events across the Asia-Pacific region, reported on climate change from Antarctica, human rights from Myanmar, trade from Russia’s Far East and spent two months on the ground in the aftermath of the 2011 Canterbury earthquakes. As host of Magic Talk Drive for several years, Ryan tackled the big news stories of the day, talking to the newsmakers and the lawbreakers, which prepared him well as a regular stand-in for AM host Duncan Garner, eventually becoming the permanent anchor in 2021.

In recent years, Ryan has been engaging more frequently on the MC circuit - his extensive media experience means he can read any room and curate his role as MC to suit the mood and tone of any event. He takes great care in preparing for his role as a host, paying careful attention to detail - and is skilful at keeping the pace of an event going, ensuring everything knits together seamlessly.
