Mark Leishman

Portfolio Bio Voice
Mark Leishman’s career began in newspaper journalism before following his passion for broadcasting. He started in radio and progressed to television shows such as the iconic Top Town, Tux Wonder Dogs and The Young Farmer Contest.

Mark worked as a television and radio news presenter in Wellington before moving to Auckland to host the rugby documentary series Mud and Glory, Sunday Grandstand and One World of Sport on TV One. Highlights included hosting All Black Tests and New Zealand’s challenge for the America’s Cup in San Diego. He later broadened into quiz shows such Jeopardy! and The Great New Zealand Spelling Bee.

Mark and his wife Jo Raymond own Dexterity Productions, and have written, produced, and directed more than 100 episodes of Tux Wonder Dogs and six prime time television documentaries. They have also produced the last 11 years of the iconic New Zealand programme the National Bank Young Farmer Contest.

A 20-year involvement with guide dogs in New Zealand enabled Mark to produce three documentaries on the subject including the heart warming story, Kohi Comes Home, which has played on Animal Planet throughout the UK, Europe and Africa.

Mark is the breakfast show host on radio station Magic Talk; and is still the daily news presenter on Sky Television’s Country 99 TV News. He is a regular voice on the The Golf Club for Sky TV and has taken up the role of presenter on The Golf Club.

Mark is active on the MC circuit, and a favourite pick for business and community awards events; his warm and down-to-earth hosting style is typical of the persona many generations have come to know and love over Mark's long broadcasting career.
