Sacha McNeil is a journalist and presenter with 15 years experience at TV3 and TVNZ.

She grew up in radio and TV newsrooms in Hamilton and Auckland pestering her father, veteran journalist Bob McNeil, to take her out on jobs. Her own career began at TVNZ, where she spent 8 years honing her reporting and presenting skills across a number of shows including One News, Tonight, Breakfast and TV2's Flipside.

She joined her Dad at TV3 in 2007 where she has anchored many of the news shows including 3News, Nightline, Firstline and Sunrise.
During her career she has fronted breaking news from the studio, covered national events such as election, Anzac Days and Waitangi Days live in the field as well as travelling to Vanuatu and Tonga with Oxfam NZ reporting on cyclone recovery. Sacha never tires of meeting new, interesting, talented, every day, hard-working people, every single one with a story to tell.

She takes this passion for people into her MC work where she has gained the reputation for being warm and generous with her time both before and after her official duties are completed.

When she’s not working Sacha can be found indulging in her other interests including reading, writing and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Of course all done while wrangling her little ones in whatever pursuits they are into at the time.

Thank you for your charismatic and professional contribution to the New Zealand Planning Institute’s 2016 Conference. Expectations were exceeded with your preparation and research into the themes of the conference. Not only did you engage more than 600 planners with your personable and professional interview style on stage, you managed to extract pertinent information from dignitaries, members of parliament, iwi, university lecturers and international guests on issues of the day translating their messages into esculent takeaways for the audience. As the face of the conference your stamina is to be commended, eloquently delivering the master of ceremony duties in the Dunedin Town Hall, engaging a diverse audience of public and private sector professionals over subsequent days. An illustration of the professional you are as a journalist and host.

Sacha came to the Awards gala as a very late replacement. In fact Sacha arrived at midday on the day of the gala and together with her co MC Cameron Bennett we went through the script and running order for the evening. Whilst Cameron had had the benefit of having the script for a week, Sacha had no time to review or add her own ‘flavour’ to the presentation. However, despite very little time to prepare, Sacha delivered an outstanding performance that was praised by our sponsors and a number of the attendees who I subsequently spoke with. Sacha’s delivery as an MC was both professional and personal and I have absolutely no doubt that she would be an asset to any presentation.
