Kate is a graduate of the New Zealand Broadcasting School and joined 3 News as a reporter/presenter/producer in 2003, after returning from London where she worked in global communications. She is now 3 News Entertainment Reporter and Film3 reviewer and launched a late night review-based show for TV3 called 'Reel Late with Kate'.

“Getting a locally-made film show for TV3 had been mission of mine for years,” Rodger told 3news.co.nz. “Thanks to all the right people coming together at the right time, we finally made it happen . Somehow, I found a way to fuel my addiction, and live the Film Addict dream. I got to watch films, review films, talk about films, talk to filmmakers about their films, go to film festivals, film sets and film awards, and blog about films."

Along with reviewing the latest releases, there was also extended interviews with the filmmakers of the moment, both international and local.

Although the show has finished Kate still travels the globe attending film premieres, awards ceremonies and film festivals. She has interviewed many major stars including Johnny Depp, Matt Damon and Meryl Streep, along with directors including Sir Peter Jackson, George Lucas and Christopher Nolan.

Local content is important to Rodger, who says: “I am really committed to ensuring we have as much coverage as possible for New Zealand filmmakers. We’re an awesome little country doing awesomely big things in the film industry, and the more of our big screen we see on the small screen the better”.

Kate has previously worked for IRN News in Auckland as a reporter and news presenter, and also in breakfast radio.

Kate has a wealth of voice experience and specializes in non-broadcast narrative and documentary work.

Kate was absolutely awesome. She understood the event and the audience and added great colour and class to the overall event. Her pronunciation of the Maori words was fantastic, her ad-libbing and sense of humour was great. It made it seem like she had been MC'ing the event all week even though we hadn't had one rehearsal! Stress levels were high when Kate first arrived but she soon put us at ease and really carried the show for us. We would definitely recommend Kate and would love to have her involved again.
