Sports Presenter and Rugby Commentator Hamish McKay has lead coverage at three Rugby World Cups. He is in tenth year as lead anchor of Sports News coverage at TV3 on Newshub.

McKay has always loved rugby, with his first job commentating Manawatu provincial rugby games at local station 2XS (now More FM) in the early 90’s. He went on to became the station’s news and sports editor.
A trained journalist with a Bachelor of Education and Teaching Diploma, McKay made his television debut with TV3 on the travel show ‘Time of Your Life’ alongside Petra Bagust, Mark Ellis and Matthew Ridge. After 66 episodes of the top rating show Hamish joined the 3Sport team in 1998.

Hamish covered his first All Black tour for radio in France and Italy in 1995. Enjoying all sports, McKay’s broadcasting career has seen him travel extensively, covering every major All Black tour over the last ten years. This includes calling more than 80 test matches for TV3 during the network’s time as free-to-air broadcaster, including the Lions Tour, the Grand Slam of 2005, the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France – a career highlight for McKay - and the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

McKay is the host of McKay on Sport on Radio Live. He lives in Auckland with his wife Sarah and three children Poppy, Hugo and Jonty.

Hamish was very well prepared and enthusiastic about our event. He was well received and created a great rapport with the audience. He exceeded expectations and I would recommend him to other conference organisers as an MC.
