Clayton Carrick-Leslie occupies a rare niche, having a foot in both the corporate and comedy worlds. By day, Clayton is a senior manager for one of Australasia’s largest financial service providers, and by night he entertains as a stand-up comedian, currently domiciled in Australia’s comic capital of Melbourne. Clayton has been nominated as a Billy T Award finalist and has appeared in a number of prime-time televised live comedy specials. He has alsoi been a recurring guest on TV3’s current affairs comedic review show, 7 days, and a regular solo show performer in both the New Zealand and Melbourne International Comedy Festivals. His humour is refreshingly clean, favouring characterisation, theatricality and subtlety.
Clayton developed an aptitude for presenting and MC work in 2005, when he succeeded Kerre Woodham in hosting season three of TV2’s Ready Steady Cook, screening weeknights at 6:00pm for a 55 episode run. The experience gave Clayton a knack for for fronting a show of moving parts and reiterated to him the importance of ensuring guests are kept as the main focus and are well supported. More recently, Clayton has MC’d a number of public events, management conferences and board dinners for the likes of Air New Zealand, Goodman Fielder, IAG New Zealand, Canterbury District Health Board and the Corporate Lawyers Assoc of NZ, as well as Australia’s CGU Insurance and Young Insurance Professionals Society.
Clayton’s corporate exposure is rare amongst comedians and has given him a sophistication in his communication, and an inside understanding of the right pitch for corporate events and professional etiquette.
