Adam's career began in the Black Caps as a fresh faced 19 year old in 1990 and spanned 12 years until his early retirement in 2003. Never far from the headlines he became an institution behind the stumps and an integral part of a highly successful side that grew into one of the best in the world in the late 90's.

One of the first to combine the lessons he learnt from his time in elite sport with degrees in Law and Finance and forge a successful career in business. Adam is Managing Director of Index Group Franchising which owns and operates multiple franchise systems in the Accounting, Rental Car and Mobile Food sectors in NZ, Australia, PNG and the USA. Across the Group they look after 120 franchisees and employ in excess of 400 staff.

Originally from Northland he is of Maori descent and has spent the past 4 years as the Chairman of Directors of the commercial interests of Te Roroa, managing interests in Farming, Forestry, Honey and Transport in Waipoua.

Outside of business he has a love of mountaineering which has seen him successfully summit Mt Manaslu (8516m) and Mt Everest (8848m) in the Himalaya and Aoraki Mt Cook here in NZ.
Recently, Adam has enjoyed his role as an Ambassador for Men’s Health Week - the product of having endured a harrowing 12-months in which he suffered from chronic stress. His story is a product of modern life and its pressures - both commercial and personal as he struggled to balance his own intense desire to succeed with the responsibilities of solo parenting and a rapidly growing business.

Adam's story is a truly unique one, one he tells with passion and a disarming frankness as he ties together the various strands and challenges that have confronted him and continue to do so.

“We first invited Adam to participate in out Inspiring Speakers Series two years ago. the Series is designed to give our (young) team a glimpse into the lives of successful Kiwis from all walks of life and the challenges they’ve faced along the way to becoming who they are today. We’ve been fortunate enough to have such luminaries as broadcaster John Campbell, advertising legend Roger MacDonnell, business owner Sara Tetro and architect David Ponting address our team. But without a doubt, the most positive feedback we’ve had from all our speakers, is for Adam. So positive in fact, that we invited him back for a second time earlier this year, to launch out 2016 Inspiring Speakers Series. His talk about conquering Mt Everest struck a chord with the team. Insightful, inspiring and remarkably candid, you could literally hear a pin drop as Adam took us through his journey from the leafy streets of Ponsonby to standing on the world’s highest peak. Originally we only had Adam for an hour – ninety exhilarating minutes later we literally had to cut the questions off so Adam could finally make his exit. I can’t think of any higher praise than to say the time flew by.”

“This is to testify that in my capacity as Head of Commercial Operations & External affairs-NZ for Abbott Nutrition, Adam Parore was approached, to be a keynote speaker at the Abbott Nutrition ANZ Annual Sales & Marketing Conference, held in the Gold Coast, Australia, which he accepted. The theme of the Abbott Nutrition ANZ Annual Sales & Marketing Conference was “Conquering the Summit”, which was a perfect fit for Adam to share his experiences, as he overcame all obstacles to climb Mt Everest, the world’s tallest mountain. Adam spoke for an hour and successfully conveyed to the audience about the life lessons that he learnt, as he went about his various preparations and drills, besides his final climb to the top of Mt Everest. Life lessons which could be applied to the commercial world of business! What’s remarkable about Adam’s presentation is that, not only how interesting is the content of his presentation, but also, that the delivery style of his presentation, was very down to earth and very relatable, to the wide cross-section of his audience. Another aspect of Adam’s presentation, which I personally impressed me, was that it was very professional and that he was able to adapt his presentation to blend in with the theme of the conference, besides delivering key lessons and actionable takeaways for the sales and marketing team, in the audience. I highly recommend Adam Parore for any future public speaking engagements and brand ambassadorial roles. “
